SMITH INTERNATIONAL, INC. Schedules Earnings ANNOUNCEMENT

HOUSTON, Texas, June 6, 2010 — Smith International, Inc. (NYSE: SII) stated today that they intend to issue a press release announcing second quarter earnings before the NYSE market open on Tuesday, August 3^rd. Due to the previously announced and pending transaction with Schlumberger and in difference to past practice, the Company will not be hosting a related conference call discussing the earnings announcement.
