HDS-1L Fixed Collar Directional Service

The tool provides continuous inclination and azimuth information and acts as the telemetry module to make real-time data transmission possible. The DataLink provides real-time communication with PathFinder LWD sensors.

The gamma ray service is easily added to the directional assembly and will produce high-resolution, repeatable logs for lithology determination and/or correlation.

Operating modes are fully programmable at the surface. For flexibility, pulse width and transmitted parameters can be reprogrammed while the tool is downhole.

HDS-1R Retrievable Directional Service

The HDS1-R MWD system represents PathFinder's retrievable MWD system providing accurate inclination/azimuth measurements for directional and horizontal drilling applications. A gamma ray log is also available with the optional gamma sub.

Muleshoe sub assemblies are provided for non-magnetic drill collar sizes between 3.125" and 9.5" O.D. Since the entire assembly is only 1.875" in diameter, the tool can be retrieved through inside diameters as small as 2.125" minimizing lost-in-hole risk in drill strings as small as 2 7/8"!

The standard HDS-1R assembly can withstand 40°/100’ dog-leg severity while our short radius version can withstand 100°/100" DLS.

The HDS-1R is a proven system which works in all mud types with flow rates up to 1000+ GPM and 20,000 psi maximum working pressure.

Split HDS-1S Directional Services

The Split HDS-1 is the latest innovation based on the dependable HDS-1 and MultiLink platform. The HDS-1S is a 16 ft. non-magnetic MWD collar specifically designed to allow the HDS-1 probe to be configured to include directional sensors, Gravity MWD™ (HDS-1G) sensors, and/or gamma sensors. The Split HDS-1S system allows these sensors to be placed below other LWD sensors, positioning them closer to the bit. The advantage of this specialized system is that sensor offsets are now flexible allowing the operator to decide where each sensor is best located. For example:

Some LWD BHA's resulted in directional sensors placed too far from the bit to steer effectively. Directional sensors can now be placed anywhere below the LWD toolstring.

Combined with the PathFinder DataLink stabilizer, BHA's can now be customized to meet both directional and formation evaluation requirements.
